If you or your parents are going for B2 Visa Stamping, one of the important documents needed to be carried is the Bank Reference Letter or the Bank Verification Letter. This letter is a proof to show that you have enough funds to support the travel and stay in the United States. Most likely this is important if your parents are coming to the United States and you are sponsoring them for their visa.

Things to remember while taking Reference Letter from the Bank:

• Maintain Sufficient Funds – You need to make sure you have sufficient funds to support the visa interview, for whom you are referencing. You have to constantly maintain funds in your account before you request for the reference letter from the bank.
• Plan Ahead– You may need to go to the bank and ask for a reference letter. You can also call the bank’s customer care center or chat online and order the letter. You would not get the letter right away. It would at least take one business day if you would order it at the bank center and may take a week’s time for you to receive it through the mail when ordered through customer care or online.
• You will be Charged – The bank may charge you for the letter. The rates would vary from one bank to the other.
• Average Balance Calculation – The bank would provide average balance along with the total balance present at the time you ordered for the letter. The average balance can be calculated for a 3-month or 6-month or 12-month period as per your choice in most of the banks.
• Address the letter correctly – You have to mention the names of those attending the visa interview, since the bank would have the reference letter typed addressing those who are attending for the interview at the U.S. Consulate.
