As many of you know , Federal court has declared that the DHS rule which permits an extension of 17 months of OPT time to STEM graduates is invalid effective February 12, 2016.
On Oct 7th, Jeh C. Johnson , Secretary of Homeland Security said that DHS will issue a public notice of a proposed rule to strengthen the OPT program for STEM students.
This is a Great News!
Since the deadline of Feb 12th is approaching, DHS has to act fast and publish this rule in October to avoid any issues for the current OPT students.

@Subodh: Its not invalid for those who already are on extension or those who get extension before the mentioned date in February so you will not be effected. And buddy its not you more than 55000 students will be effected by this rule and around 35000 on February 12, 2016 if they do not make an extension. So just chill.
