I haven’t heard of HR 3012 until a few months before one of my friend spoke about it. This is definitely an interesting piece of information immigrants would be curious to know.
H.R. 3012 would eliminate the per-country numerical limitation for employment-based immigrants, to increase the per-country numerical limitation for family-sponsored immigrants. Currently, 140,000 green cards are allotted to Immigrants each year based on their job skills. But each country is limited to 7% of the total visas (9800 out of 140,000). If this bill is passed, this limitation would be removed. This is a huge benefit to Indians and Chinese immigrants.
Another proposal is to increase the quota for family-based green cards. The approval of this bill will really help Indian immigrants in a substantial way and the green card wait times are reduced extremely.
What’s going on with this bill right now?
- The bill passed by U.S House Of Representatives on November 29th, 2011 by a substantial win bipartisan vote of 389 to 15. This is a good start.
- Currently the bill is pending passage in U.S Senate

Rally on Sep 8th – Fairness and Freedom March
A peaceful rally is held in support to the bill H.R.3012 in San Jose on the Sep 8th 2012, Saturday at the Circle of Palms Plaza, San Jose. If you live in and around San Jose, I would recommend attending and supporting the bill to be passed at the Senate. This bill’s approval would drastically change the fate of those who have been waiting on their green cards to be approved since years.

This bill doesn’t speed up anything! The result will be a shift in immigration diversity. Right now 22% of green cards goes to indians, with this law that number will go to near 100%. It will eliminate, in practice, immigration from the rest of the world.
