Vinod Khosla “isn’t afraid to fail, and has staked a big claim in clean-tech” with big companies such as Daisy Systems, Sun Microsystems, and KPCB. Now the founder and a partner at Khosla Ventures, Vinod is ranked 368 on Forbes list, and has a net worth of $1.67 billion.

Shriram was born India, and studied math at the University of Madras. After Shriram moved to the US, he became an indisputable Silicon Valley angel. Kavitark Shriram was one of the first people to invest in Google, and has been on its board since the company was founded.

Ever the philanthropist, Shriram and his wife have donated $61 million to Stanford University where he currently resides as the board trustee. He is 55 years old and has a net worth of $1.9 billion. He is ranked 340 on Forbes list.

At 67 years old, Romesh Wadhwani currently ranks 262 on Forbes list and has an impressive net worth of $2.5 billion. He was a natural entrepreneur, and in 1995 he followed his ambitions to Silicon Valley where he founded Aspect Development.

Romesh also founded “The Symphony Group”, a dozen innovation-focused software companies, and the Wadhwani Foundation. Through the Wadhwani Foundation, Romesh funds talent training in India, and is the proud recipient of the 2013 ‘Non-Resident Philanthropist Award’ in India.

Bharat Desai, number one on our list with a net worth of $2.5 billion, is the chairman and co-founder of Syntel. Bharat studied engineering in India, but as an American entrepreneur he has grown Syntel into a billion-dollar company.

Bharat once represented India in the bridge world championships, but now he spends his spare time doing yoga and cricket. In 2009, Bharat stepped down from his chief executive position in Syntel. At 62, Bharat is ranked on Forbes list at 244.

John Kapoor came to the U.S. from India to pursue his pharmaceutical studies at the University at Buffalo. When he joined a LyphoMed in 1972, he was able to transform this pharmaceuticals company into a multi-million dollar company.

As a serial entrepreneur, John founded two pharmaceutical companies that brought him the majority of his wealth. He also owns a small chain of Indian restaurants called Bombay Spice, as well as Japanese eateries called Roka Akor. 71-year-old John Kapoor has a net worth of $2.7 billion, and is ranked at about 240.
